Eight-week-old Charlie Douthwaite goes new mind
The youngest patient on the UK transplant waiting list, an eight-week aged child, has received a new middle.
A Europe-wide appeal to help Charlie Douthwaite, who was born with half a centre, was propelled last-place month.
The youngster, who suffers from hypoplastic left center ailment, underwent a nine-hour activity at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.
His mother, Tracie Wright, thanked the donor lineage for demonstrating Charlie “a second chance at life”.
“They’ve given my newborn a second possibility at living and for that I’ll be forever grateful, ” she said.
